Investments in safety during HAI HELI-EXPO 2020

31.01.2020

At one of the most important events in the rotary-wing aircraft industry, HAI HELI-EXPO 2020, in California, OMNI has just closed a partnership with SKYTRAC to provide real-time monitoring through the HUMS (Health and usage Monitoring System) and the “push-to-talk” tool on nine of its AW139 aircraft. The aircraft serve several companies in the oil & gas sector in Brazil, including Petrobras. With the installation of the new equipment, OMNI becomes the first Brazilian helicopter operator with real-time monitoring technology.

According to Roberto Coimbra, CEO of OMNI TÁXI AÉREO, SKYTRAC has an excellent reputation as a provider of corporate data solutions for the sector.
"We already use SKYTRAC solutions and equipping our aircraft with the HUMS satellite system on our AW139s will increase the safety and operational efficiency of our customers."

The system known as HUMS is a safety program that can identify, communicate and resolve emerging safety problems as they are detected. The on-board system monitors the HUMS parameters in flight and alerts ground crews in real time when exceedances are captured. The solution also simplifies the transfer of HUMS and post-flight flight data monitoring files to ground stations, eliminating the need for technicians to board the aircraft and download files manually.

In addition to the HUMS monitoring solution, OMNI has also acquired SKYTRAC's PTT solution for encrypted satellite radio communication. PTT allows the operations control center to communicate efficiently with the aircraft during the flight, without distortion and can accommodate up to several conversation groups.
